Australia’s first talent agency for famous online pets, Remarkable Pets, launches

MEDIA RELEASE: 14 July 2016 – Australia’s most popular pets of Instagram and Facebook will be hitting the big stage from today with the launch of Remarkable Pets, Australia’s first ever talent agency designed specifically for influential online pets.

The new pet talent agency was created in response to the increasing popularity and growth of social media accounts for pets. While some people do not own pets in real life, following an adorable pet through social media is a way for them to get their furry fix, resulting in some of Australia’s biggest social media pet stars attracting followings in the hundreds of thousands.

Lorraine Murphy, Chief Furry Officer (CFO) of Remarkable Pets said: “The rise of pet influencers is a marked global trend and we could see how large and engaged their audiences are. It became clear to us that this new breed of social influencers needs a business dedicated to helping them with their channels.”

“We know from our experience to date with human influencers how powerful online personalities are; and we can see our approach extending very organically into the pet space. We have had a lot of brand interest prior to even launching, and we’re excited to see this new concept come to life with these talented influencers and the enormously engaged audiences they have built,” said Murphy.

As well as drawing large social followings, hashtags about pets are some of the most commonly used on Instagram. For example, pet-related search terms such as #dog, #cat and #dogsofinstagram have been used over 240 million times on Instagram. While Australia-specific pet hashtags #dogsofaustralia, #catsofaustralia and #aussiedogs have been used over 150,000 times.

Remarkable Pets is a division of The Remarkables Group, which was one of Australia’s first specialist talent agencies for influential online influencers. The agency has already signed seven pets from across the country, with a combined social following of 536,700.

This includes Annie Paddington (@AnniePaddington), Bacon and Maple (@baconcup), Lulu and Finn (@LuluandFinn), Frost Official (@frostofficial), Mr Biscuit the Pug (@mrbiscuitthepug), Nigella the Pug (@nigellathepug), Life of Jinkee (@lifeofjinkee) and Albus Greybeard (@albusgreybeard).

Remarkable Pets will help connect brands with these pet influencers for a range of collaborations including sponsored content, promotions and events.

The agency has also already signed its first brand partnership with Australia’s largest integrated pet supplies retailer, Petbarn, which has over 150 stores nationally. Petbarn stores also offer a range of services including Greencross Vets clinics, pet adoption, grooming, puppy training and even a Petbarn Hotel.
